Confined Space Training

This course will give participants an opportunity to practice their Confined Safe Entry procedure using their equipment, in a relaxed safe environment. As well it will assist in fulfilling management's obligations to ensure workers are trained and competent to deal with Confined Space Entry and reduce the risk of accidents which result from the lack of knowledge and compliance with Regulations, Ministry of Labour (MOL) Guidelines, standard safe practices, policies, and procedures for entry into confined spaces.

The MOL has new confined space requirements for all workplaces with confined spaces. Employers are required to develop a written program that identifies the confined spaces, assesses the hazards in those confined spaces then develop plans to control these hazards, provide training and require a permit system for each confined space as well as a plan for rescue in the event of a mishap.

We offer a two-part program consisting of a theory segment and a practical evaluation.

Theory

• Discuss and evaluate specific confined spaces at your location
• Review and discuss your confined space entry policy and procedures
• Learn requirements for on-site entry equipment (lanyards, harnesses, etc.)
• Learn requirements for on-site respiratory equipment
• Learn requirements for testing and monitoring equipment
• Learn requirements for on-site entry permits

Practical

• Put on appropriate equipment
• Conduct air testing
• Simulate being spotter and monitor
• Enter a confined space (mock set/up or actual)
• Observe to ensure all procedures & standards are complied to
